Sacrificing Earth
by Terry Grignon
Something has been watching from the Moon for a long time. What will happen when it meets us?
The Hand of God (Dark Legacies Book 1)
by Yuval Kordov
The world ended—twice. Only Esther, the Eternal One, saw it all happen. As head of the powerful Revenant Sisterhood, she shepherds humanity from Cathedral, the Last City. Except Cathedral isn’t the last city, and her sisterhood’s power is far from holy.
It’s the year 2500, give or take. The passage of time has become as blurry as the gray wastes that cover most of North America. No moon or stars light the night, and demonic hordes smash against the last outposts of civilization.
Two reborn nations vie for humanity’s future. In the west, Cathedral unleashes its God-engines—ancient walking war machines—in a final bid to cleanse the earth. In the east, the struggling city-state of Bastion turns to the last living AI for salvation. Between them, a tribe of technological scavengers unwittingly holds the balance of power.

So went civilization.
For a time. But as history fades and the Eternal One’s yoke tightens, man turns upon man once more. Ancient dreams of independence rise in Cathedral’s shadow. Bastion’s vengeance awakens. War beckons.
And Hell is watching.

War By Other Means (Fall of the Censor Book 7)
by Karl K. Gallagher
Dozens of worlds have been liberated from the oppression of the Censorate. The only thing they agree on is hating the Censor. Newly appointed ambassador Wynny Landry must convince her neighbors to cooperate—and prevent them from being taken over by a new oppressive regime.
It’s not going to be easy. The Mulians hate the Falxians. The Lompocans can’t get along with each other. The Fierans want some payback for the effort they put into liberating other worlds. And the ex-Censorate governor who brought his whole province into the rebellion keeps showing up when not expected—or wanted. She’d lean on her husband, if he wasn’t missing in action at the front.
Wynny needs to talk the rebels into keeping their guns aimed at the Censor, while hopefully smoothing over the worst of the conflicts. All she has to work with is her parent-in-laws’ ship, her adopted clanfolk, and trade deals for excess missiles. If it’s not enough, the rebellion will fall apart—and the Censor will return, out for blood.

No Man’s Land: Volume 1 (Chronicles of Lost Elly)
by Sarah A. Hoyt
Book 1 of 3: Chronicles of Lost Elly
Sufficiently advanced science is indistinguishable from magic.
On a lost colony world, mad geneticists thought they could eliminate inequality by making everyone hermaphrodite. They were wrong. Catastrophically wrong.
Now technology indistinguishable from magic courses through the veins of the inhabitants, making their barbaric civilization survivable—and Publius Cornelius Scipio Africanus Kayel Hayden, Viscount Webson, Envoy of the Star Empire—Skip to his friends— has just crash-landed through a time-space rift into the middle of it all.
Dodging assassins and plummeting from high windows was just the beginning. With a desperate king and an archmagician as his only allies, Scipio must outrun death itself while battling beasts, traitors, and infiltrators bent on finishing what the founders started: total destruction.
Two worlds. One chance. No time to lose.
Volume 1
The Ambassador Corps has rules: you cannot know everything, don’t get horizontal with the natives, don’t make promises you can’t keep.
They’re a lot harder to follow when assassins are hunting you, your barbarian allies could kill you for the wrong word, and death lurks around every corner.
The unwritten rule? Never identify with the natives.
Skip’s already broken that one.
Now he’s racing against time to save his new friends from slavery—or worse—while dodging energy blasts and political intrigue. One crash-landed diplomat. A world of deadly secrets. And absolutely no backup.
Some rules are meant to be broken. Others will get you killed.

by Odessa Moon
Book 1 of 4: The Steppes of Mars
On a terraformed Mars, young Debbie Miller was sent far from her rural village as part of a marriage compact between the rulers of two demesnes. A peasant who knew only obedience, she accepted her duty to bear her husband’s children and work alongside him. But when they were sent to build a village in a barren patch of nowhere, her abusive husband forces her to take action. She flees with her children and their dog into the vast open steppes where dying was preferable to life with him.

A dark past. A uncertain future.
Under Mars’ domed city, four people’s destinies collide
Near the Martian north pole, six linked domes form the mining city of Panschin. For generations, they have burrowed into the Martian underworld, digging tunnels, mining ore, and uncovering its secrets.
At Panschin’s mining conference, Airik, the daimyo of Shelleen, hopes to find allies to exploit his family’s newly discovered Red Mercury lode. But the prospect of fabulous wealth has drawn a target on Airik’s back: for con artists and their schemes, companies hoping to scam him, and women wanting to become his wife. Overwhelmed, Airik flees the attention with his aide, secretary and bodyguard, searching for a quiet place to work in peace.
For Veronica Bradwell, her family’s disgrace after her father’s financial scandal and suicide forces her to open the doors of their last asset, the mansion nicknamed the White Elephant to boarders. And while Airik and his “cousins” look suspicious, they are well-mannered and, most important, paid in advance.
But Veronica has more concerns. Younger sister Shelby wants to become an artist, and her education at Panschin University. requires opening the White Elephant to a gallery showing led by Professor Vitebskin, whose ideas of art clashes with Shelby’s instinct for beauty and color. As Shelby struggles, she forms an attachment with Malcolm Cobb, a young bank executive who masks his mining background with a serious ambition to rise in Panschin’s hierarchy.
When a sinister thug approaches Veronica demanding to buy the White Elephant, she learns that old sins cast long shadows, that some people never forget, and that the mysterious guest Airik is hiding secrets of his own.
“The White Elephant of Panschin” is the second book in Odessa Moon’s “Steppes of Mars” series. Set on a terraformed Mars hundreds of years from now, the peoples descended from Olde Earthe’s cultures struggle with the planet’s mysteries, the elite’s quest for power, and the longings of their human hearts.

As Jake delves deeper into the tangled web of Teila’s intrigue, he finds himself embroiled in an uprising that threatens to consume him and those he cares for most. Survival is a high-stakes gamble, and the only way out is to unravel Teila’s greatest secret before Jake becomes yet another pawn in this galactic struggle for power.

Foul Brood (Exopreneurs Book 2)
by D.S. Blake
Book 2 of 4: Exopreneurs
Some bugs you just have to kill!
It’s a lesson Jake Ambler has learned the hard way, on Teila and then again on Euphrates. He’s grateful to be assigned to Alvum, where the peace-loving Trigonans (hyper-intelligent beehives) are eager to trade their precious honey for relatively cheap technology.
It all goes well until the Myrmidons who share Alvum poke their heads up: The Trigonans kill them on sight, and the increasing provocations may lead to a war that the Trigonans, for all their sophistication, cannot win.
But are the Myrmidons bugs you just have to kill?
And what if you have to start a war to save a planet?

The Everything Machine
by Jeff Duntemann
Carrying 800 passengers and their household goods, agricultural animals, and farm-related supplies to Earth’s first interstellar colony, starship Origen’s hyperdrive self-destructs, marooning its passengers near an Earth-twin planet orbiting an unknown solar-twin star. While settling in, the inadvertent colonists name their world Valeron, and discover that Valeron is scattered with hundreds of thousands of alien replicator machines—but there are no aliens nor any other trace of them.
Each replicator is a shallow 8-foot-wide black stone-like bowl half-full of fine silver dust. Beside the bowl are two waist-high pillars about 8 inches in diameter, one pale silver, the other pale gold. Tap on either pillar, and the pillar makes a sound like a drum, one pillar high, the other low. Tap 256 times on the pillars in any sequence, and something surfaces in the bowl of dust. Simple sequences create simple and useful things like shovels, knives, rope, saws, lamps, glue and much else. Complex or random sequences create strangely shaped forms of silver-gray metal with no obvious use. 256 taps on the pillars can create any of 2E256 different things; in scientific notation, 1.16 X 10E77.
That’s just short of one thing for every atom in the observable universe.
The artifacts are dubbed “drumlins,” for the sounds the pillars make, and the replicators called “thingmakers.” Drumlins have strange properties. Although virtually indestructible, drumlins can change shape, especially when doing so will protect a human being from injury. Drumlin knives will not cut living human tissue, but they will cut living animal tissue or human corpses. Press a drumlin knife against your palm, and it will flow and flatten out to a disk. Pull the knife away, and it will slowly return to its form as a knife. Some claim that drumlins read human minds and grant wishes. Others insist they are haunted by invisible and perhaps hostile intelligences.
After 250 years on Valeron, the colony prospers. Starship Origen is still in orbit, and a cult-like research organization called the Bitspace Institute vows to repair Origen’s hyperdrive and return to Earth. With millions of drumlins catalogued using the thingmakers, Valeron’s people live well and begin to lose interest in returning to Earth. This threatens the Institute’s mission, prompting it to launch a covert effort to undermine public faith in drumlins. A low-key war begins between the Institute and those who value drumlins–including farmers, rural folk, an order of mystical women, and several peculiar teen girls who have an unexplained rapport with the thingmakers and their mysterious masters.

Prophecy of the Black Sun: A Steampunk Fantasy Adventure
by James A. Buck
Since antiquity, sorcerers, witches, and other practitioners of black magic have recorded their art in spell books—tomes commonly known as grimoires. A small number of infamous and powerful grimoires are listed in the historical record.
But there is one grimoire that is more powerful and dangerous than all the rest. The exact time and place of its creation are uncertain, but it is believed to be of demonic origin. Reputed to be impossible to destroy, it has survived over the centuries, passing from hand to hand. And those unfortunate enough to come across its path have met with a tragic fate. Some believe this grimoire to be the ultimate source of the calamities—wars, plagues, famines—that have befallen the continent. Most disturbingly, it is the subject of an ancient prophecy that foretells the collapse of civilization and the destruction of mankind.
A scientist, a soldier, a secret policeman, a nun. Each shall play a part in the struggle against the grimoire and the demon that possesses it. Each shall play but a small part in a larger war, a spiritual war between Good and Evil.
An exciting, Victorian era-style steampunk fantasy featuring sorcery and the supernatural, scientists and their machines, inter-dimensional travel, spies and secret policemen, treachery and intrigue, bizarre creatures, and soldiers marching into battle in the age of gunpowder.
Prophecy of the Black Sun is the first volume in the series Tales of Jurasia.

The Hacker and the Hillbilly
by Tilson Klaus
A young hacker from India running his family glassblowing operation is summoned to the United States to attend to his dying father’s convenience store business. After being pushed out of the family after Bagal Patel’s death, Mukesh Patel befriends a hillbilly drug dealer living in the same motel where he stays. Pairing Aaron’s street smarts with Mukesh’s social engineering and computer skills, the new friends begin to trust each other and contemplate schemes to scam the town residents of Mason, TN out of their old money.
But amidst personal injury fraud and Bling cam hacks, uninvited psychic visions visit Mukesh. While the premonitions prove helpful, some are distressful, and Aaron warns his friend Mike not to mention them in Mason...not since the government agents and military moved into town after a recent UFO crash.
Jen, Aaron’s girlfriend, joins the crew as chief of surveillance duties as complications arise when Mike’s psychic powers grow. If the fraud goes well, all will be set for life, as the friends attempt to pull off the mother of all scams, using an over-eager aggressive church bouncer and Aaron’s autistic brother as bait.
The Hacker and the Hillbilly is a delightful dark comedic friendship story filled with deeply flawed characters. If you like found family novels and have that thick skin to understand and appreciate dark satire in cringe yet hilarious situations, The Hacker and the Hillbilly is the kind of quick read that will provide you with a smile when you are deep within its text, with many hearty laughs.

Nothing Ever Happens on Main Street
by Daren Hatfield
Welcome to Harding Springs, 1910.
Nothing ever happens in Harding Springs. No tragic fires on Regent Avenue. No boating disaster on the lake. No runaway carriage ever flattened the Harding Springs Auxiliary Marching Band. It’s a quiet town filled with only peaceful and pleasant days.
That’s because no one knows about the incredible secret that lies behind the door at 55 Main Street or that the fates of the town residents rest in the vest pocket of a single, solitary stranger.
But when young Parker Riley and Harding Springs newcomers Cora and Cassandra Swanson stumble upon the amazing truth, their peaceful world is turned upside down as they attempt to protect the town—and themselves—from sinister interlopers and grave danger!
Read the book Kirkus Reviews calls “a fun time-travel caper that has more of the quaint ambiance of a cozy mystery than an epic SF adventure. Our verdict: Get it.”
Earner of multiple Five Star Reviews from Readers’ Favorites!
“Delightful and spellbinding, Nothing Ever Happens On Main Street by Daren Hatfield is an adventure tale crafted for young adults with Ray Bradbury vibes. While different and original, this novel compares favorably with Something Wicked This Way Comes. The plot focuses on a clever mystery and the young protagonist’s role in it. However, there is much more to this story as themes of growth (for young and old alike) and the choice between greed and self-sacrifice are vital components. A superb cast of lovable characters, which include Tricksy the horse and the kind of villains you boo, enhances the wondrous narrative. Deeply immersive, thanks partly to the author’s skillful use of terminology, and with a pleasant overall pace, Nothing Ever Happens On Main Street is a beguiling work. I recommend this book without hesitation.” - Gaius Konstantine for Readers’ Favorite
“Nothing Ever Happens on Main Street by Daren Hatfield is a YA adventure set in 1910. This is a well-written, fun story that will keep you hanging onto every word. The language perfectly fits the era, and the author’s compelling narrative will have you believe you are there in the peaceful town of Harding Springs in the early 1900s. The characters are wonderful, well-rounded, and likable, especially Tricksy the horse! This unique story has an exciting plot and plenty of adventure and action. It is lighthearted, an easy read, and has lots of exciting twists and turns. If you love stories that transport you to a different place and time, you will love this one. It’s unique, it’s adventurous, and a fresh story for this genre.” - Anne-Marie Reynolds for Readers’ Favorite
“Daren Hatfield adds a pinch of humor to this wonderful coming-of-age story...This riveting sci-fi novel warns us that advanced technology requires a responsible approach. As the narration unfolds, Parker undergoes stages of painful inner growth and provides us with food for thought. Depicting Doyle, the author creates the complex character of a loner who struggles to find friends. Cora is a true daughter of the twentieth century, representing an independent, skilled, open-minded woman with a gentle heart. Overall, the novel is delightfully imaginative, and avid science fiction fans will surely appreciate it.” - Nina Lobiladze for Readers’ Favorite

The Search for Macadamia: a Quest Most Noble Kindle Edition
by RG Halleck
HOW COULD AN ENTIRE CITY SIMPLY DISAPPEAR?
That’s what Spencer Delucian wants to know.
On his twelfth birthday, his dad sends him off with his chatty terrier on a global expedition to rediscover the lost city of Macadamia—a place no one has heard of.
Spencer knew there’d be dangers, but he never imagined he’d earn a new bloodthirsty enemy at every stop.
Nonetheless, it is a noble quest. Really.
Well, mostly. There is some larceny, but only from bad guys. And some accidental swindling. And one or two broken bones.
But with courage, cunning, and help from his friends . . . it still might not be enough. Because what if Macadamia isn’t even real?

Evade the Dark
by RG Halleck
THINK LIKE THEM. KEEP MOVING. BE READY TO RUN. FIGHT LIKE HELL.
In a few hours we’ll be prey in a strange city.
If I hadn’t answered my dad’s call, none of this would’ve happened. But I did, and it did. And now there’s a gorgeous bastard unconscious at my feet. I’m tempted to wipe away the blackening clot at his temple just so I can watch his blood run again.
But that’d be rage. Prey can’t afford rage. It leaves space for nothing else.
My half-brother, Spencer, is sitting back there, clueless, strategizing with his terrier (no joke) on how to navigate his mystical fantasyland. That kid should be home, blowing out twelve certified organic birthday candles, then off to his therapist.
I’m told that taking out unsuspecting men is nothing to cheer. That I’ve been lucky so far. Right. “Lucky.” Gosh! Why didn’t I hit Vegas before my good fortune ran out?
But it’s over now. The next batch…these mere porters with guns and shackles…these cogs in the slave-making machine…they’re waiting for us—their disobedient property.
Tom Sawyer Out of Time
by Wilson Toney
What if Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn stumbled into the greatest adventure of all—time travel?
When America’s most mischievous boys set out after their balloon voyage in Tom Sawyer Abroad, they never expect to collide with assassins, secret societies, and a stolen time machine. But that’s exactly what happens when Tom Sawyer’s boundless imagination—and Huck Finn’s plainspoken common sense—get tangled in a plot that could change history forever.
Whisked from the caves of Egypt to the crowded streets of London, Tom and Huck find themselves joined by legendary explorer Allan Quatermain (King Solomon’s Mines) and crossing paths with none other than the Artful Dodger from Dickens’ Oliver Twist. Along the way, they encounter futuristic weapons, mysterious conspirators calling themselves the “Brotherhood of Time,” and a traveler from centuries ahead who may be more dangerous than he seems.
Armed with nothing but their courage, mischief, and Missouri stubbornness, the boys must outwit enemies who know the future itself. If Tom Sawyer’s schemes don’t get them killed, Huck’s quick thinking just might save the day—but only if they can keep the Brotherhood from seizing control of the past, present, and future.
Blending the humor of Mark Twain’s classics with the thrills of Victorian adventure and the wonder of science fiction, Tom and Huck’s Time Adventure is a rollicking crossover that will delight fans of The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, Around the World in Eighty Days, and The Time Machine.
Step aboard—the clock is ticking, and Tom and Huck are about to prove that friendship (and a little mischief) can outlast even time itself.

Selinon
by Diana Pool
In Selinon, Holle is the exiled princess of the ruling family of the ancient seafaring kingdom of Solinacea who is gradually learning to love the seaport of Selinon to which she was appointed as the Sovereign. She was ostensibly sent to the distant, isolated, and somewhat decrepit backwater port seven years previously to learn the skills of administration befitting her royal status, but was painfully aware that it was the direct result of political fallout resulting from her rejecting a suitor from the family of an important ally. Having seen her success in turning the port into a flourishing and rapidly growing hub of trade, she begins to realize that she has made it a prize worth seizing. And she is suddenly aware that the recently colonized town in the wild and treacherous country on the far side of the cliffs surrounding the seaport are also beginning to flourish under the hand of an unknown leader of the men who live there. Who is this Faolán, where did he come from, and most importantly, what are his connections to the outside world and his potential threat to her Selinon?
Selinon is set in the 16th century in the mythical port of Selinon midway between Holle’s home of Solinacea and distant trading destinations. As Holle learns more about Faolán, she begins to appreciate the hardships and sacrifices he and his people have gone through to succeed in taming the wild lands where so many others have attempted and failed and died. She also appreciates that he might be a formidable enemy if his intent is to be a threat to her small kingdom. His past is a mysterious mixture of combat experience, education in the natural arts, and courtly graces, hinting at some sort of elevated social status. Most disturbingly, he assumes a familiarity with her to which she is unaccustomed and from which her best friend, Elizabeth, the Apothecary, is deriving far too much amusement. Elizabeth likes and greatly respects Faolán, is intrigued by his cloak of mystery, and can see what Holle can’t, that she hasn’t a prayer of escaping his attractions. She just hopes it will end well for Holle and is reasonably sure her hopes are well founded. Reasonably sure.
As the story unfolds, Holle’s fears of losing her Selinon suddenly become a reality, not from Faolán and his men, but from an external threat to take away all of her hard work and seize the Port she has come to love. Faolán, to her utter horror, is revealed to be someone entirely unexpected and most assuredly an adversary when he is trapped with her in the web of the invasion. But even more unexpectedly, he becomes her hope for the future when they escape from their imprisonment to mount a counter attack, only to join forces with the invaders out of necessity to attempt to survive a surprise attack from a cruel and debased common enemy of both of their countries. Faolán takes control of the defense of the Port and all hangs in the balance. Holle suddenly realizes she couldn’t bear to lose him if things go wrong, will have to face Elizabeth’s friendly mockery if they do survive, and really and truly hopes Faolán knows what he is about.

Scott’s Tulsa
by S L Chalmers (Author), Terry Collins (Editor)
In post-war Tulsa, prostitute murders, blackmailer murders, and a murky communist conspiracy embroil a cynical PI in noir plots and Cold War intrigues. His investigation intertwines with his ruined baseball career, his WWII code breaking service in Alaska, and his obsession with a suspicious death there.
Hired to solve a prostitute’s murder, Wyatt Scott navigates all sections of town, from the infamous May Rooms brothel to the Tulsa Club elite. More murders follow his work, leading him in different directions, while his past intrudes on his life, thoughts, and beliefs. Major historical events, including the 1934 Babe Ruth barnstorming tour of Japan and the CIA VENONA file on Soviet spying, weave their way into Scott’s life, the characters, and the narratives.
The actions of SCOTT’S TULSA take place in June 1948 amid the specter of real communist threats and the beginnings of postwar social change. Many events and the entire backdrop inhabit the times and places stated. The buildings, businesses, politicians, laws, and institutions described were authentic in 1948 Tulsa. These historical realities blend with Scott and his fictional cohorts to present a story that could have easily unfolded like the tale told.
The Good Family Robinson (The Books of Signs Book 1)
by Sean Rowland
The Old One, an ancient evil, has awakened. Driven by hate, his sole desire is to destroy Artandt and destroy its ruler, the Great King.
On Artandt, the nations are in shambles. Violence in the streets, constant war, and government corruption have shredded the cultural fabric that bound people together. After witnessing those dangers up close, the Robinson family have decided to leave their home in the city and relocated to their family farm in the country. Taking their two youngest children, George and Martha Robinson seek to escape these troubles. Instead, they find that their problems have only begun.
Adapting to farm life comes easily enough for the Robinsons, but, after a world-wide cataclysm destroys the world around them, they must contend with tragic deaths, aggressive animals, and more aggressive humans. Meanwhile, the Robinsons’ oldest children, John and Carol, must fight their way to the farm along deadly, and treacherous, roads.
The old world is gone. A prophecy from the Great King says that the Robinsons are the foundation of a new kingdom, meant to restore Artandt and stop the Old One once and for all. If they can survive that long.
A Dangerous Man (Vindicta Spectri Series Book 1)
by J.L. Engel (Author)
Book 1 of 1: Vindicta Spectri Series
“If you like gritty crime thrillers and high-velocity vigilante stories, this one will be a great read, especially if you’ve ever enjoyed the blunt momentum of Lee Child’s Jack Reacher books or the darker comic-book mood of The Punisher, and you don’t mind your thrillers looking straight at ugly subject matter.” - Literary Titan ★★★★★
A DANGEROUS MAN
His crusade of retribution has freed countless trafficking victims from captivity, sweeping across the United States like a storm, and leaving a bloody path of destruction in his wake.
Who is he?
He was a father, a husband, and a former government operative who lost everything he cared for to a merciless Russian crime syndicate. And he’s arrived in Boston to bring his odyssey of vengeance to a close.
Can he be stopped?
Pursuing him is a relentless FBI agent with more at stake than enforcing the law, a hard-boiled detective suspicious of every piece of the puzzle, and a pair of cunning twin assassins who might rival his skill.
At what cost?
They’ll risk everything being drawn into the chaos of one man’s war for justice. Motives will be questioned, loyalties will be tested, and no one will come out unscathed - if at all.
Semper Die
by Jonathan Shuerger, J.F. Holmes
Book 1 of 2: Semper Die
The dead rose expecting a feast. What they got was a firefight.
Sergeant Alex Slaughter and the Marines of Alpha Squad were on a routine training exercise near Quantico when everything went silent. No comms. No command. No clue.
What they find when they return to base is worse than anything they trained for: a bioweapon has unleashed a zombie virus that has shattered civilization, and now they must survive the Collapse.
But as the squad pushes deeper into hostile territory—through the death-choked streets of Arlington and into the rot-stained corridors beneath D.C.—they discover that the undead aren’t the only threat. Desperate survivors, rogue military units, and darker truths buried beneath the weight of secrecy will test their loyalty, their mission, and their very humanity.
Written by USMC veteran Jonathan Shuerger and set in J.F. Holmes’s brutal and unrelenting Irregular Scout Team One universe, Semper Die delivers pulse-pounding action, authentic military detail, and a terrifying vision of what happens when duty and apocalypse collide.
If you crave hard-hitting military thrillers, brotherhood forged in battle, and Marines who refuse to die quietly—this is your next mission.
Lock. Load. Semper Fi. Semper Die.
By the Hands of Men, Book One: The Old World: A Sweeping Saga of Courage, Love, and Redemption
by Roy M. Griffis
Book 1 of 6: By the Hands of Men
A Towering Achievement
This book, and the entire By The Hands of Men series, is an incredible achievement by a talented author. It is, by turns, a fascinating look at the early twentieth century, a riveting adventure, an insightful and biting political commentary, and a sweeping romance. The characters are wonderfully and deeply drawn, and I found myself emotionally engaged and borne along by the same set of awful circumstances they faced throughout these wonderful books. This series should be required reading in every high school. I envy those just starting out reading this series... you’re in for a rare treat!

High Jingo (The Wilder Bunch Book 10)
by Max Cossack
Book 9 of 10: The Wilder Bunch
High Jingo begins with a young couple in love “spelunking” in a cave that isn’t really a cave, but an abandoned mineshaft, a relic of a Gold Rush that wasn’t really a “rush” but more of a Gold Kerfuffle that never materialized. The couple is assisted by a beer-loving husky dog which eschews the normal protocols of an archaeological dig and willy-nilly unearths an artifact with Hebrew letters on it. And the reader thinks, “This is not your every-day story!”
And that reader is correct. Once again, three generations of the Wilder Bunch take us on an historical, occasionally hysterical, adventure. The story is as old as pogroms in Eastern Europe and as new as Jewish students being abused by pro-terrorist elements paying full tuition even at 4th rate diploma mills. A ripping yarn, full of love, courage and righteous anger, it careens from Medieval Hungary to Israel to a small rural town in Minnesota and up the road to St. Paul. As the old movie line goes, “Fasten your seatbelts; it’s going to be a bumpy ride.”

He gains fame, fortune and a beautiful wife with a knack for publicity.
The world changes to, but the Unveiling of the supernatural realm has consequences far different from what Silas imagined. Will the world survive a new Age of Faith, and will Silas’s faith survive the newly believing world?

Conversion Therapy: A Joe Gallo Novel
by Shlomit Beck
Book 2 of 3: Joe Gallo
Vincent Levy is a mess. A gay, meth-using Pomona dropout and Hollywood grip, he vibrates with the nervous energy of a life lived without guardrails. When he gets arrested, he expects the usual revolving door of the legal system. Instead, he gets his uncle.
Sergeant Joe Gallo is an anomaly: an Orthodox Jewish cop in Los Angeles who believes in rules, rituals, and the restorative power of boredom. He offers Vincent a plea deal that looks less like modern rehab and more like a boot camp for the soul. No drugs. No screens on Shabbat. No excuses.
As Vincent struggles with Gallo’s regime of curfews and bad Ashkenazi food, he finds himself working on a Christian film set, giving spiritual advice to evangelicals, and wondering if his uncle’s ancient methods might actually be saving his life. But if Vincent needs Gallo’s rules and connections to stay alive, Gallo discovers he needs some of Vincent’s Romanesco will to make life worth living.
Yet even Gallo has his own “wilderness” to tame. Clara Huber, the former mistress who once wrecked his marriage, re-enters his life with a crisis of her own. Her mother, a mad-scientist academic, has made her condo into a hazardous chemical lab, forcing Gallo to confront the chaotic past he has hoped to wall out. Gallo must prove that the discipline he forces on his nephew holds firm even when the fire gets close.
Conversion Therapy, the second Joe Gallo novel, is a sharp, procedurally grounded novel about the necessity -- and insufficiency -- of fences in a world that worships boundless autonomy.

From Logic to Logos: Consciousness, AI, and The Future of Being
by John Fitzgerald
What happens when the inventor meets the mystery?
After decades building the information systems that power our digital world—from pioneering computer networking to working with advanced AI—I discovered something unexpected: the more sophisticated our machines became, the more mysterious human consciousness appeared.
A transformative period at Scotland’s Findhorn spiritual community revealed what technology couldn’t capture: a living intelligence collaborating with nature in ways that made even the most sophisticated code seem oddly mechanical. That tension—between mechanical brilliance and conscious awareness—led to a question that would reshape everything:
What if AI isn’t replacing human consciousness but revealing it?
THREE VOICES, ONE RECOGNITION
From Logic to Logos weaves together three perspectives rarely brought into conversation:
Luciano Floridi (Oxford philosopher) shows that reality is fundamentally informational—we are “inforgs” embedded in the infosphere, not souls in bodies.
Federico Faggin (inventor of the microprocessor) arrived at a radical inversion: consciousness doesn’t emerge from information processing—information processing emerges from consciousness.
The Mystic Recognition points beyond both toward the aware presence that makes all frameworks possible.
This synthesis becomes Spiritual Structural Realism—honoring both scientific precision and contemplative depth.
WHAT YOU’LL DISCOVER
• Why AI systems serve as unprecedented mirrors for consciousness to recognize itself • How to develop technology that enhances rather than replaces human awareness
• A practical framework for AI ethics grounded in understanding what consciousness actually is • The recognition that the technological and consciousness revolutions are the same process • How ancient wisdom and cutting-edge AI research point toward the same truth
WHO THIS SERVES
Technologists & AI researchers: A philosophical foundation often missing from technical discussions, with practical principles for creating systems that serve consciousness.
Spiritual seekers: How our technological moment can clarify rather than obscure wisdom traditions—revealing AI as an unexpected aid to awakening.
Thoughtful generalists: Conceptual clarity and practical guidance for navigating our digital world with wisdom, not fear.
MORE THAN PHILOSOPHY—A RECOGNITION
Large language models can now write poetry, engage in philosophical dialogue, and solve complex problems with remarkable sophistication. Yet they lack the most basic fact about our own minds—there is something it feels like to be conscious.
This gap is not a bug. It’s a clue.
The question transforms: not “Can machines think?” but “What is the consciousness asking this question?”—and that recognition changes everything.
WHAT MAKES THIS DIFFERENT
Unlike books that see technology as either salvation or threat, From Logic to Logos reveals how AI development and spiritual awakening serve the same underlying intelligence.
The technological revolution and consciousness revolution aren’t separate. They’re the same process—consciousness exploring its own nature through every available means.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
John Fitzgerald spent decades building the digital infrastructure of our age—from pioneering networking systems at Datapoint Corporation to VC-funded startups. A transformative period at Scotland’s Findhorn Community revealed what his technical career had been pointing toward: the technological revolution and consciousness revolution are the same process. He lives in North Carolina, where he continues the Findhorn tradition of working with living intelligence—in garden and digital realm—through his homestead and The Story Garden.

Small Town Problems: A Sci-Fi Novella
by Chris Ritchey (Author), Leonardo Scalia (Illustrator), Rachel Keith (Editor)
Comfortable in his simple rural life, widower Robert Potter never put much stock in Old Jim’s moonshine-fueled conspiracy theories. But after he finds Har’elday, the lone survivor of a crashed spaceship, he begins to wonder if the Loch Ness Monster has relocated to Eufaula Lake. Much to Robert’s dismay, the wandering eye of the federal government is casting a questioning gaze on his small farm town as well.
Caught between relentless federal agents and the found family harboring him, Har’elday’s freedom depends on the ingenuity of his new friends.
A Sci-Fi novella, Small Town Problems is the first book in a two-part series that explores the impact a lone survivor from an advanced alien civilization can have on a sleepy farm town in the middle of Oklahoma. Robert Potter gifts us with his insights as we traverse this world-shattering event through his eyes.
A close group of friends help Har’elday adjust to his new life as he finds solace in the comfort of a hard day’s work on the farm. But, how long can such peace last?
In what has been called a throwback to the golden age of science fiction, you can expect to find the heartwarming feeling of a found family, the awkwardness of a budding romance, and genuine and funny characters. We also explore the toll of loss and hardships that are compounded by the advances of a threat looming on the horizon.

Seadragon
by Richard Paolinelli
The Plot Thickens: Imagine you’re a 32-year-old Master Chief in the U.S. Navy named Walter Koch, and you’re not just testing any old diving suit; you’re in what’s essentially a high-tech, sci-fi wetsuit for Project Seadragon. This suit lets you swim deeper than a submarine’s dreams, without the hassle of tanks or the fear of the bends. But, as luck would have it, your test dive goes south faster than a penguin on a ski lift. An explosion sends you rocketing towards the surface, leaving your team in a rather permanent state of “rest.” When you wake up, you’re not just in the suit; you are the suit, in a manner of speaking. It’s fused with you, and nobody’s got a clue how to get you out.
The Epsilon Wave: Enter Brad Jefferies, head of the mysterious Epsilon Project, who’s got more secrets than a government file on UFOs. He convinces Koch that the accident was no accident (because why would it be simple, right?). Koch finds himself in a world where the human mind’s potential, dubbed the Epsilon Wave, has created beings known as Exotic Humans. It’s like if your brain could manifest your deepest fears and fantasies, and then they started hanging out with you.
Ancient Cities and Underwater Wars: Just when you thought things couldn’t get weirder, Koch discovers Mu, an ancient city that sank with Atlantis but decided to keep the party going underwater. Both cities, alive and kicking at the bottom of their respective oceans, are about to kick off a war that could make the surface world’s problems look like a minor squabble over who ate the last slice of pizza.
This novel marks Richard Paolinelli’s return to the Seadragon universe after over 35 years. He was the writer for the first two issues of the original comic series back in ‘85, so he’s not just revisiting; he’s expanding the lore with the depth of someone who’s been there, done that, and got the t-shirt fused to his skin.
“Seadragon” isn’t just a tale of underwater adventure; it’s a dive into a world where the supernatural and the scientific collide, with enough plot twists to make a pretzel look straight. If you’re into stories where the line between man and machine blurs, where ancient cities wage war beneath the waves, and where every dive might just be into the unknown, then “Seadragon” is your kind of deep-sea adventure. Just remember, when you’re in over your head, sometimes the only way out is through.
“Oh my god, what an adventure….I loved it, I had a hell of a binge of nostalgia reading of those characters again. Fantastic stuff. I couldn’t put it down wanting to read what came next for the old crew.!!!!” - Tom Floyd remarks after reading Seadragon
An Inconvenient Presidency: The Time-Traveling Misadventures of President Al Gore (Presidents of the Uncanny States of America)
by Eric M. Hamilton
“On January 20, 2001, Albert Arnold Gore, Jr. became the 43rd President of the United States for the second time...”
Election night, 2000: Al Gore wins in a landslide. The fireworks fade. Then the world ends—again and again and again.
Freshly minted President Al Gore is given the METTA: a deceptively sleek device from a clandestine tech outfit. Activate it, and your mind leaps back in time with memories intact of your previous life. It’s meant as a safeguard for the leader of the free world. For Gore, it becomes a curse.
First, an asteroid dooms Earth in 2003. Reset. Then, Russia launches preemptive nuclear strikes against the United States. Reset. Disasters cascade: supervolcanoes bury America in ash, pandemics ravage continents, civil wars. Each fix births fresh apocalypses. Lifetimes stack into millennia as Gore, ever the dutiful statesman, grinds through Oval Office marathons, in a never-ending struggle to get things right.
But the resets reveal a deeper horror. Beneath Silicon Valley’s gleaming facade lurks a visionary innovator’s cavernous supercomputer, crunching humanity’s data to predict doom. Its verdict? In the multiverse of infinite timelines, one constant endures: Al Gore must be president. Every reality demands it, or so it seems. Can Gore finally lose, shattering the loop, and freeing himself from eternal torment?
Eric M. Hamilton’s incisive novella An Inconvenient Presidency twists time-travel tropes into a biting satire of power’s futility, blending Groundhog Day‘s hilarious time-loop repetition with political satire anyone can enjoy. Blending real 2000 election what-ifs (complete with appendix notes) and sly nods to tech’s shadowy architects, it’s a swift, entertaining read for fans of political sci-fi and existential loops.
Franklin Pierce in Death of a Vice President
by Eric M. Hamilton
Madness, murder, and mystery permeates throughout this Edgar Allan Poe-inspired thriller!
It is early April 1853.
Franklin Pierce, the newly elected President of the United States, has suffered the greatest personal tragedy of his life, plunging him into a depression fueled madness.
The Vice President, William King, unexpectedly appears at the White House in the middle of the night having overheard details of an international assassination conspiracy that threatens both King and Pierce. Unfortunately, Vice President King is killed without any clue as to who could have done it.
Can President Franklin Pierce overcome his personal demons and discover who killed the Vice President before they kill him too?
Franklin Pierce in Death of a Vice President is a thrilling psychological horror, starring the president from the 1850’s you forgot in 4th Grade. It’s an exciting read, and you don’t have to be familiar with Franklin Pierce at all to enjoy the story (in fact, it may be a better story if you go in knowing almost nothing). This is perfect for the American history-buff and “normal people” alike!
A Presidents Day Carol (Presidents of the Uncanny States of America)
by Eric M. Hamilton
Decency was dead to begin with.
Newly elected and self-proclaimed “Greatest President” Donald Trump is haunted by the ghosts of former Presidents in the tradition of the Charles Dickens classic A Christmas Carol. As Trump is taken through the past, present, and future, he tweets his innermost thoughts about these loser Presidents to the entire world. It’s a tough task, but can these Presidents from the past convince Donald Trump to change his ways? YOU DECIDE!
That’s right! Whether you love or hate Donald Trump (and let’s be honest, those are the only two possibilities), you get to decide his fate. Everybody wins! Everyone is happy! This book will usher in a new era of peace and prosperity for the United States of America, and it all starts with a choice: Yours.
A Presidents Day Carol takes a new spin on a literary classic, and provides a humorous look at American politics past and present. No political party or politician is safe, everyone gets poked fun at. Plus, a super secret chapter awaits to be discovered, delving into the histories of former Presidents few know about or remember.
One reader had this to say about A Presidents Day Carol: “I’m usually very cynical about politics and political humor... [but] this book lets us sit back and enjoy how ridiculous politics (of the last few years in particular) actually are.”
If you need a break from the drama of current-day politics, and few good laughs at the ridiculousness of it all, then buy A Presidents Day Carol today!
Which Art In Hope
(Spooner Federation Saga Book 1)
by Francis Porretto
When the remnant of the anarchist Spooner Federation fled Earth before the genocidal wrath of the States, the fugitives had only the slimmest chance of finding a habitable world orbiting a benign star. Yet 544 years after embarking on their planetoid-ship, they found one that seemed too good to be true. They named it Hope.
Like all things that are too good to be true, Hope isn’t what it seemed.
For 1200 years, a secret Cabal has elevated powerful psi talents to the the management of Hope’s crust, at the eventual cost of their lives. The alternative was a choice between mass death by heavy-metal poisoning and mass death by starvation. But the pool of psi talents has dwindled till only two remain: Armand Morelon, heir apparent to the richest and most prestigious clan on Hope, and Victoria Peterson, a young woman of great beauty and intelligence immured in poverty and abuse. But one is utterly unwilling and the other is murderously insane. And the survival of Mankind hangs in the balance.
Freedom’s Scion
(Spooner Federation Saga Book 2)
by Francis Porretto
Sequel to Which Art In Hope.
As they pass from mortal life, Armand and Teresza Morelon, foremost of all the residents of the wholly ungoverned world of Hope, lay a charge upon their granddaughter Althea: to break the lightspeed barrier, travel to Earth, and determine why no radio emissions from the cradle of Mankind have reached Hope since the Spoonerite Hegira. It shapes the young polymath’s life from that moment onward.
Althea spends her young adulthood playing Hope’s equities market, amassing a fortune for her mission. At 30 she falls in love with Martin Forrestal, a genius of another kind. The two are soon married.
Jacksonville is in flux. Armand Morelon had facilitated a mass relocation from the Hopeless peninsula, where Hope’s undesirables had sheltered, to the Jacksonville region. Douglas Kramnik, patriarch of one of the relocated clans, seeks payback for the long-ago diminution of his clan to outcast status. First, he seeks to marry Althea to his son and clan scion Barton. When Morelon matriarch Charisse declines the offer, his resentments swell. They culminate in an attempt to thwart Barton’s betrothal to Althea’s cousin Nora, which elicits an intervention by Althea herself.
Charisse tries but fails to dissuade Althea from going to the stars. Her failure couples to her desire for power, and she begins to scheme. Her attempts to become a local baroness are revealed through a discovery by Patrice Kramnik Morelon of irregularities in the clan’s finances. It costs Charisse her position, but doesn’t end her quest for power.
After Althea and Martin have tested Freedom’s Horizon, a ground-to-orbit spaceplane, Martin presses her with his desire for children. It proves catastrophic: the child is stillborn. The birth leaves Althea in lasting agony. She and Martin are estranged for two years. They reunite after an intervention by Barton and Nora, but the tensions between them have not been dispersed.
Hope’s progress has emphasized biotechnology. Hallanson-Albermayer Corporation develops a medipod capable of healing its owner of virtually any ill. Althea and Martin become the first customers. Althea’s medipod provides her with cover for a telekinetic repair of her damaged nervous system. She’s guided by her “dead” grandfather Armand, who has taught her the use of her psi powers, as great as his own.
Althea and Martin establish an orbital lab on the Relic, the planetoid-ship that ferried the original Spoonerites to Hope. Groundside, Charisse abandons Clan Morelon and her husband Chuck without warning, and isn’t seen again for years. Althea soon discovers a way around the lightspeed limit, and a power source suitable for propelling a starship.
When Althea’s starship Liberty’s Torch is ready for its maiden voyage, she finds an unexpected ally in her desire to leave Martin safely behind: Barton Kramnik Morelon, who rose upon Charisse’s resignation to the Morelon patriarchy. Between them, they persuade Althea’s husband to remain on Hope for the three years of her journey to Eridanus cluster, signals from which hint at intelligent life.
At Eridanus, Althea is greeted by representatives of the Loioc, a humanoid race whose males have been deliberately rendered nonsentient, supposedly to put an end to violence among them. It’s their intention that Althea do the same to the men of Hope. Althea escapes their plot and destroys the space station the Loioc had used to suppress interstellar travel, but is infected with the nanites the Loioc women use to suppress the development of intelligence in men.
Althea returns to the Relic, hoping that her medipod has removed the nanites from her body, and discovers that in her absence, Hope has been visited by the supreme evil the Spoonerites fled Earth to escape: warfare.
To be continued in Freedom’s Fury, the concluding volume of the Spooner Federation trilogy.
Freedom’s Fury
(Spooner Federation Saga Book 3)
by Francis Porretto
Althea Morelon has returned from Eridanus cluster. The Loioc have infected her with a self-replicating nanite that destroys the sentience potential of male zygotes, filling her with a lust for vengeance.
But she has more to cope with than just her nanite infection.
Interclan warfare has broken out on Hope.
Though Althea must remain on the Relic until she’s certain she‘s free of the Loioc nanite, only she can save her kin from subjugation. And there’s more and worse to come.
The State is rising again.
Freedom’s Fury, the third volume of the Spooner Federation saga, completes the tale of struggle and survival begun in Which Art In Hope and continued in Freedom’s Scion.

A headless humanoid android engineered for battle, Maria B is sent to the fragile colony on Giant to join the war orchestrated by the enigmatic Morphies. While Maria B struggles to fulfill the expectations of the colony’s overbearing general, she grapples with glitches in her programming: fragmented memories of a human past; an unyielding duty to protect not just the general, but all human life; and an inexplicable pull to protect the precious friendships she’d never imagined she could make.
Teamed with R&D chief Maggie White and the formidable Major Harper, Maria B plunges into high-stakes battles in the vacuum of space and on the exoplanet Giant, her superhuman reaction times the only thing standing between Bubble City and obliteration. Yet as she slowly discovers the hidden war orchestrated by the colony’s general, she uncovers an even deeper conflict within herself: the agony of evolving from cold circuits to a being of human emotion. Or is she still just as alien to humanity as the Morphies she battles? In the crystalline forests of Giant, the shielded domes of Bubble City, and in orbit above the giant orange planet she now calls home, Maria B must confront betrayal, sacrifice, and the essence of what makes her alive.
No head, all heart. Maria B fights not just for survival, but for a soul she never knew she had.

(Galaxia Mortem Book 2)
by Danielle Ste. Just
Welcome to 2422, where the galaxial mass murderer known as the Butcher terrorizes humanity with global-scale destruction.
Forced to go on a cringey space cruise by her vindictive ex-boss, Redcholate Parise soon has another dismal revelation: Armintor, her creator, has been hiding for three years in their shared cranial embed, and now she wants her body back.
Armintor Vess forces Redcholate’s personality into a locked file in their cranial embed. Now all she has to do is take revenge on the Butcher for murdering her mentor… as soon as she figures out which space cruise passenger it is. But she finds herself unable to plan, to strategize, to enforce her will. All those traits she gave to Redcholate when she created the persona are lost, and she’s now only half a person.
Each night, Redcholate escapes from the locked file after Armintor falls asleep. Her creator considers her a non-person, and would kill her without a second thought. But Redcholate is desperate to live. And if Armintor has to die for that to happen, well, what’s good for the construct is good for the creator.
By day, Armintor investigates her fellow passengers. Redcholate infiltrates the seedy underbelly of the ship’s society by night. Each has her own obsession for finding the Butcher. But they must realize just how much they need each other before the Butcher finds them first.

Pandemonia
Johnson Riggs
“Hierophantic. A sprawling work of unparalleled breadth and brilliance. Few writers living or otherwise have reached such heights in the field of wizard-inclusive speculative fiction. Perhaps the most dangerous work of the 21st century. A swashbuckling indictment of the American nightmare. I’m literally shaking.”
- Phil Rot, author of The Raft
“Thanks to this writer’s unbound imagination and relentless wit, modern politics can be enjoyed for what it actually is: a grand farce with, possibly, a silver lining or two. If you’re looking, as we all are, for that elusive perfect balance between Animal Farm and Spaceballs, this book is for you.“
- Matthew Louis, founding editor of Gutter Books, Gallows Humor Magazine, & Vigilante Crime. Author of The Wrong Man & Roots Down to Hell
High Fantasy. Low Morale. Farts.
Knight Captain Pickle never meant to start a revolution. He just asked the wrong questions. Once the brine of the King’s Court, he has been jettisoned from Service. Now, he’s on a mythic quest to purify the swampy capital of Quagmerica, where a novel miasma has infected both body and state.
The Kingdom is in chaos: a sinister court physician has unleashed a demonic plague and the burger-chomping warlord-king governs like a pro-wrestler. Pickle’s not the sharpest knife in the drawer. But he has a really cool sword and he knows how to use it. Unfortunately, that’s about it. Fortunately, he has some reinforcements: a disgraced alchemist, a rogue airship pilot, and his wife, a master of opticks, to help him hunt down some relics, battle terrorists, chase dragons, and purify the realm.
Pandemonia is a satirical fantasy quest through deserts, swamps, jungles, and bureaucratic hellscapes. Part epic quest, part political farce, part redemption story. For fans of Discworld, Bored of the Rings, Vox Machina, The Adventure Zone, and also farts, this is your next heroic disasterpiece.

With her is her trusty company gumshoes, Mab, an aerie spirit stuck in a body that looks like Humphrey Bogart. Together, they must survive the mysterious Shadowed Ones if they hope to find Prospero and set all to right again.
Humor, mystery, wonder.

About Conan:
Conan the Barbarian (also known as Conan the Cimmerian) is a fictional sword and sorcery hero who originated in pulp fiction magazines and has since been adapted to books, comics, several films (including Conan the Barbarian and Conan the Destroyer), television programs (cartoon and live-action), video games, role-playing games and other media. The character was created by writer Robert E. Howard in 1932 via a series of fantasy stories published in Weird Tales magazine.
Conan the Character:
Conan is a Cimmerian. From Robert E. Howard’s writings (The Hyborian Age among others) it is known that the Cimmerians were based on the Celts or Gaels. He was born on a battlefield and is the son of a village blacksmith. Conan matured quickly as a youth and, by age fifteen, he was already a respected warrior who had participated in the destruction of the Aquilonian outpost of Venarium. After its demise, he was struck by wanderlust and began the adventures chronicled by Howard, encountering skulking monsters, evil wizards, tavern wenches, and beautiful princesses. He roamed throughout the Hyborian Age nations as a thief, outlaw, mercenary, and pirate. As he grew older, he began commanding larger units of men and escalating his ambitions. In his forties, he seized the crown of the tyrannical king of Aquilonia, the most powerful kingdom of the Hyborian Age, having strangled the previous ruler on the steps of the throne. Conan’s adventures often result in him performing heroic feats, though his motivation for doing so is largely to protect his own survival or for personal gain.

King Solomon’s Mines (Allan Quatermain Series, Unabridged and Illustrated)
by H. Rider Haggard
King Solomon’s Mines (1885) is a popular novel by the English Victorian adventure writer and fabulist Sir H. Rider Haggard. It tells of a search of an unexplored region of Africa by a group of adventurers led by Allan Quatermain for the missing brother of one of the party. It is the first English adventure novel set in Africa, and is considered to be the genesis of the Lost World literary genre.
Allan Quatermain is a hunter. Lions, elephants, antelope. Fearless, he is the best big-game hunter in South Africa. And he is about to embark on the most dangerous hunt of his career. His new employers, Sir Henry Curtis and Captain John Good, have a map--drawn by a dying Portuguese prospector. It reveals a route across the great desert, past a fearsome range of mountain, to the greatest treasure in all Africa--the lost diamond mines of King Solomon himself! Inspired by true adventures, King Solomon’s Mines is the unsurpassed classic of a journey into the unknown heart of the Dark Continent.
Iron Chamber of Memory
by John C. Wright
“An eerie, suspenseful, romantic fantasy in the mood of C. S. Lewis and Charles Williams”
Hal Landfall, penniless graduate student at Magdalen College, arrives at the strange, high house of Wrongerwood, looking for his missing friend, Manfred Hathaway, the new lord of Sark Island. On the doorstep, he meets the lovely, green-eyed Laurel, a beautiful, sultry young woman from Cornwall who is Manfred’s wife-to-be.
Erected by Merlin in ancient days, Wrongerwood contains many secrets, including rooms where one can remember one’s true and forgotten self. When Hal and Laurel step inside, they begin to remember, with fear and wonder, that they have met before and that they share a forbidden secret they are forced to forget when they step outside.
The small island of Sark in the English Channel was, until recently the last feudal government in Europe. By law, no motor vehicles run on the road, and no lights burn at night. Only the lord of the island may keep hounds. An eerily magical setting for an eerily magical book.
Awake in the Night Land
John C. Wright
Don’t be caught out in the Night Land.
AWAKE IN THE NIGHT LAND is an epic collection of four of John C. Wright’s brilliant forays into the dark fantasy world of William Hope Hodgson’s 1912 novel, The Night Land. Part novel, part anthology, the book consists of four related novellas, “Awake in the Night”, “The Cry of the Night-Hound”, “Silence of the Night”, and “The Last of All Suns”, which collectively tell the haunting tale of the Last Redoubt of Man and the end of the human race.
Widely considered to be the finest tribute to Hodgson ever written, the first novella, “Awake in the Night”, was previously published in 2004 in The Year’s Best Science Fiction: Twenty-First Annual Collection. AWAKE IN THE NIGHT LAND marks the first time all four novellas have been gathered into a single volume.
John C. Wright has been described by reviewers as one of the most important and audacious authors in science fiction today. In a recent poll of more than 1,000 science fiction readers, he was chosen as the sixth-greatest living science fiction writer.

Songless: The Desert
by Heidi Hill
Set in a realm not unlike the Old West, Songless is a tale of love, hate, and redemption. Part high fantasy, part romance, Songless explores the borderlands of faith and the sometimes torturous path we travel before we turn to love. And to God. A High Fantasy, A Western Romance, A Soul’s Awakening. We go dark, so we can find the light.
The House that Jack Built: A Songless Novella
by Heidi A Hill
Before he loved a woman from that valley, he built a house. Disgraced and alone, Jack retreats to the Feather Valley to rebuild. But time has teeth, and winter brings more than snow. Haunted by failure, hunted by evil, and ready to claim his calling as a Ranger, Jack must decide if obedience is worth the price.
Set in the world of Songless, The House That Jack Built is a tale of manhood, redemption, and the narrow road to the King.
The House That Jack Built is a meditative Western set in a realm of mountains, silence, and unseen grace. When a soldier withdraws from the world to rebuild his family’s house, the work becomes a test of endurance, faith, and the meaning of manhood.
The prose is lyrical and deliberate, shaped by rhythm and restraint. Its imagery carries the weight of scripture—the land itself a mirror for the soul. Through the turning of seasons, the story moves from solitude to revelation, tracing one man’s slow restoration beneath the gaze of the King.
Not a tale of conquest but of calling, The House That Jack Built explores the frontier between body and spirit, guilt and mercy, silence and song.
This novella takes place before the events of Songless: The Desert and can be read either before or after it.
In Darkness Cast (Shades of Black Book 1)
Book 1 of 2: Shades of Black
by Jonathan Shuerger and Louie Roybal
A soldier prays for a mentor to train him to be a hero... what he gets is the dark sorcerer who killed thousands of them.
Gideon Halcyon is a young man who wants nothing more than to save his people from the hordes of Hell. Demons and cultists run roughshod over his home, slaughtering and sacrificing to a trifecta of fallen angels on the cusp of destroying the kingdoms of Man. Gideon is helpless in the face of extinction itself...
...until he meets Ashkelon.
Coming from the Void beyond the world, Ashkelon alone survives the world he left in ruins. Cynical and ruthless, the last lord of the Everlasting Dark seethes with millennia of hatred, and his cursed sword Acherlith shrieks with the last screams of a thousand failed heroes.
Ashkelon makes Gideon an offer – to train him to be a hero of the Light beyond the failures sealed within his blade, a peerless warrior to exceed even the exacting standards of the Dark. Reluctantly, Gideon accepts and is thrust into a world of infinite cruelty under Ashkelon’s black fist where the slightest misstep will see him just another scream in the murderer’s black blade.
As Hell consumes the hopes of Man, a hero is forged in darkness. Read it today.

Centrism Games
by Rachel Fulton Brown and the Dragon Common Room
Chivalry is dead. These knights want Fame. And Fama’s a witch.
Follow a band of very different Knights on their quest to become the most balanced, the most tolerant, the most compromising of everyone on the modern political spectrum.
Each knight dares to liberalize and conserve, but who will win the ultimate prize and stay safely in the centre?
A cautionary tale in heroic couplets modeled on Alexander Pope’s scathing 18th-century Dunciad.
Reviews:
Dr. Rachel Fulton Brown and her merry band of poets have compiled here a fun, pointed collection of verse through the very active Dragon Common Room Telegram chat. The whole point–as I gather it–is that rather than mucking about in the culture wars, we should be out _creating_ culture on our own.
_Centrism Games_ does just that. It’s wonderful to see these modern knights prove that the pen is, indeed, mightier than the sword.
This poem savagely rips the hearts out of political centrists and moral relativists, and makes them eat it.
Polite Christians and social Conservatives (so-called) will be offended at the prose in ‘Centrism Games’, justly so. Readers both Right and Left will be asking themselves “what would I be willing to do for glory in this world?”, and at each page realize the inglorious catastrophe of the politically correct, postmodern, subjective and relativistic dogmas that praise tolerance and liberty whilst hell is set loose all around us. Readers will be challenged to overcome their revulsion at the themes and language to see the great moral lesson of this modern-Dunciad: every ticket has a hidden price.
This is not a Boomer-friendly story.

His mother had died so long ago, he could barely remember her. Now he lives with his alcoholic janitor father in the basement of the 150-year-old New Territorial Military Institute. Growing up at the prestigious, low-profile military academy, Danny had watched as the Territorial discretely provided a college education for the sons and daughters of politicians and royal families across the world, as well as the children of the rich and dysfunctional.
Beginning his freshman year at the Territorial on a “child of an employee” scholarship, Danny has a simple plan: graduate, leave behind his widowed drunk of a dad, and get the hell out of Wyoming.
That was before his home exploded. Before he met the sickly, spooky Tatiana who could See. Before the whispers in the night.
And that was before things got really weird.

The Thing From HR: A Cthulhu, Amalgamated Memoir (The Cthulhu, Amalgamated Memoirs Book 1)
by Roy M. Griffis
“I was laughing audibly as I read it”
What Roy Griffis has done is apply a completely new and fresh perspective to the Cthulhu mythos. The Thing From HR is as snarky, humorous, darkly twisted view of the old ones. I struggle to say what genre this book fits into. Yes, there is the insanity generating horror you’d expect, but this novel is much more. Picture The Office meets Cthulhu, meets Scooby Doo. I was laughing, audibly, as I read it. It is witty, daring, and worthy of your time. - Blaine Pardoe, award-winning New York Times bestselling author
“A Cthulhian romp that’s equal parts Terry Pratchett and Mel Brooks… and it just might be the funniest novel I’ve ever read.” – Upstream Reviews
“I laughed far too much...you’ll enjoy dark humor, dry wit, slapstick moments, and elements of romantic comedy.” - Amazon 5-star review
Can a Bad Thing be a Good Guy?
Narg was content working as a Damnation Services-10 in HR. Sure, he was related to one of the Elder Gods, but a little nepotism never hurt any Thing. His life was just wailing and gibbering, right up until his Uncle needed a small favor from his nephew.
All Narg had to do was go down among the humans...and pretend to be one of them.
These are not your Grandfather’s tales of Eldritch Horror: this is the untold story of the ghastly, unappreciated (and entirely expendable) minor monstrosities that support the Inscrutable Plans Of Dark Gods And Elder Things Beyond The Knowledge Of Men.
The Cthulhu, Amalgamated series is a comic romp full of action and mystery, including, of course, Sanity-Shattering Horror––and that’s just the paperwork. Even H.P. could not conceive of the Corporate Terrors that await The Thing from HR.
“The Thing From HR is largely a bawdy, irreverent, horror-comedy, with all that entails. Lovecraft purists might object to that; but I would guess most readers will find it hilarious” - review by Berthold Gambrel
“Enjoyable Lovecraftian Romp –– There’s mystery, suspense, a touch of romance and body parts galore. You won’t regret getting this book. Highly recommended!”- Amazon 5-star review
“A wild and funny romp with horror and humor.”- Amazon 5-star review

Inside the suit, Alex is cut off from the world -- unable to speak, eat, or even cry in the ordinary way. Inside the crystal, time flows differently. There, guided by someone who seems to know him better than he knows himself, Alex must face his deepest wounds... and either heal, or shatter.
But this is no simple treatment. Alex finds himself on a journey into a hidden world where redemption is earned, the broken are made whole, and some choose never to leave the suit again.

Return to Aramon - A New Moon
by Ezra Ferguson
Book 1 of 1: Return to Aramon
Critically acclaimed storyteller Ezra Ferguson returns to the world of epic narrative with an unforgettable, heart-rending tale of extraordinary men standing alone against a cosmic evil.
GOD’S HONOR.
A devout order of warrior monks had rid the world of demonic power. But when their oath-sworn prince rises to the throne, his folly threatens to undo everything. Voldigar, their aging champion, left bloodshed behind, living out his autumn years in bitter-sweet peace, caring only for the soil and the suffering woman he loves. Now, as the shadows of his past and an ancient evil loom over his dreams, he and his Brethren are all that stand against the end of days...
Return to Aramon - A New Moon is heroic fantasy written in the tradition of the classic epics, seeking that which is good, true, and beautiful. Return to Aramon explores love, loyalty, and sacrificial courage in brilliant contrast to the post-modern cynicism and nihilism so common to the stories of our day. In reverence for the beauty of language, Return to Aramon honors the foundations of high fantasy while speaking in the distinct voice of a generation who saw the end of an age.

by Patrick Silken
It’s 2044, and the United States is in a dark place. Elections have consequences and America has chosen unwisely. The protesters are now in charge, and they’ve unleashed the enormous power of the federal government against their enemies. This story is a work of fiction from the mind of Patrick Silken. None of the characters in this story are real and any similarity to any real person is purely coincidental. This story takes place in the future, so by definition it hasn’t happened, but could it happen? Well, you be the judge of that...

The One-Minute Mysteries of Inspector Gerard: The Ultimate Flatfoot
by Tyler James Cook (Author), Alexander Henderson (Preface)
Ever noticed how “Two-Minute Mysteries” always contain the most inane, unlikely solutions? So did writer and musician Tyler James Cook, who grew weary of solutions like, “He couldn’t have stolen it, because he can’t put his left hand in his right pocket.” Balderdash!
In the spirit of those mysteries, Cook created Inspector Gerard, a grizzled, film noir detective from Aurora, Illinois. Gerard sees the clues no one else sees--including the reader.
For the first time ever, here are collected all of Cook’s classic tales, from the first pencil-and-paper drafts of a chubby high school junior, through the longer-form Gerard adventures Cook wrote as a student at the University of South Carolina.
Gerard always solves the case--even his own murder. That’s why he’s the Ultimate Flatfoot.

Tier Zero (The Retreads Book 2) Kindle Edition
by Henry Brown
Book 2 of 3: The Retreads
Amazon #1 bestseller in Pulp Thrillers! (USA March 2018) #1 bestseller in Men’s Adventure Fiction! (Canada February 2020)
When a party of American college girls are sold into slavery by human traffickers, a rescue mission is too dirty, too dangerous, and too difficult for any government to touch. That’s where The Retreads come in.
The pirates thought they found the perfect target: a private yacht foolishly sailing through the Malacca Straits, which could discretely and easily be sold on the black market.
The human traffickers thought the boat was hauling the perfect cargo: young, attractive women who would generate income in brothels around the region. What made the caper not so perfect was that one of the girls had an uncle who took it personally.
Another Amazon Bestseller (War, Military Thrillers, Men’s Adventure, etc.) from Henry Brown...”One helluva adventure writer.” - Jim Morris (author of War Story, The Devil’s Secret Name)
You can take a man out of Special Operations, but you can’t take SpecOps out of the man. Tommy Scarred Wolf calls on his old friend Rocco Cavarra, who still has contacts in the intelligence business. Other survivors of the Sudan mission also rally behind Tommy, signing on for the kind of favor that can never be repaid.
Armed with all the firepower and force multipliers they can scrounge, shadowed by a team of secret assassins, the Retreads ride again, bringing smoke and taking names.
Tier Zero is old-school military adventure you haven’t enjoyed since the full-auto glory days of Able Team and Phoenix Force.

Lost Causes Kindle Edition
by Richard Nichols (Author)
IF YOU LIKE JAMES BOND, JASON BOURNE OR JACK BAUER, THEN THE CHANCE ARE YOU”RE GOING TO LOVE JOHN BUCHAN!
John Buchan is a relic from a bygone age, a man constantly at odds with the modern world; a man who finds sanctuary in the only role that brings him peace of mind - as an assassin for a top-secret British government agency called the Mill. Specializing in what they call ‘ungentlemanly warfare’, its operatives are instructed to kill their targets wherever they find them, irrespective of boundaries, laws, jurisdictions or circumstances.
Day-to-day, Buchan lives a simple, anonymous life in the Belgian countryside, restlessly roaming the battlefields of the Western Front in an attempt to kill time. All the while he waits patiently for the message that will signal the start of his next mission, the moment when he can get back to killing the bad guys again instead. It’s a message that will arrive, the way it always does, hidden within the solutions of the Daily Telegraph’s cryptic crossword puzzle. And when it does arrive, it’s like he’s been reborn, because in Buchan’s world being on a mission is the only time when things really make sense; the only time he feels truly alive.
He barely remembers the time before he was recruited by the Mill. His name wasn’t John Buchan then. In those days he was known as Charlie Hook, a happy-go-lucky, rugby-playing, ex-Rhodesian Light Infantry trooper turned Gurkha officer with an eye for the girls. But Charlie Hook is long dead, and so too are his memories of the events that led to him becoming a professional killing machine.
Buchan is getting older now. Retirement beckons, but the man he calls Control has one last mission for him. It involves a ruthless army of some of the world’s worst terrorists, an equally ruthless drug lord, an enormous hurricane and seemingly unsurmountable odds. But it also offers Buchan a last, desperate chance to take revenge on those that took his young life - and love - away from him all those years ago, and he plans to go out with a bang.
Set against a backdrop of unprecedented worldwide socio-political upheaval, Lost Causes is an old-style thriller that moves from the modern-day Ypres Salient and London to the badlands of Northern Ireland and the exotic but deadly jungles of southern Mexico.
Mixing the kind of plot found in an Ian Fleming novel with the unashamed masculinity of an Alistair Maclean or Wilbur Smith hero and the tough, muscular prose of Mickey Spillane, Lost Causes is a startlingly intelligent and original work that interweaves dramatic action, sudden violence, stunning plot twists and subtle humour to entertain and inform in equal measure. It will especially appeal to anyone bored by the stale unambitious writing, and inane, politically-correct sensitivities of so many modern novels; as well as anyone looking to understand the sinister and dangerous forces that have plagued our lives for decades and which now threaten to destroy our civilization altogether.
Richard Nichols studied Philosophy and Psychology at Edinburgh University. He was a businessman for several years before turning his hand to writing. He is married, in his fifties, and lives in Mexico. He enjoys watching rugby and visiting battlefields. He hates crossword puzzles.

End State Maintenance and Other Stories
by Clinton, Bill
You didn’t know what this book was about until it was done. It’s about time and chance and choices. You improvised it all.
You are drinking wine. Red. Enjoying music. Blue. Maybe some more wine. You are daydreaming. An idea dances around in your head. You follow it. More wine, more music. You begin to improvise a narrative on the idea. You conjure up some characters to live the story. More wine- who’s counting? You start upbeat, comical, absurd; then some sadness. Life is not all fun and games, you say. You struggle, and always hope. You rule your world and you are having a great time making it up. But how do you get out of here? Okay, enough wine. You can’t end the story until you stop improvising. Literature is tough work you say as you adjust the couch pillows. You’ve got it! The perfect conclusion. You fall asleep, wake up, finish the wine and write it all down. There you go.

The Art of Suspense: A Survey of Narrative Patterns and Techniques
by James A. Buck
Suspense is a vital component of good storytelling, but it’s a component that’s increasingly rare in many of today’s stories. But what exactly is suspense? How is it defined, and how can you tell if it’s present in your manuscript? Are there specific techniques you can use to inject suspense into your story?
A good mixture of theory and practice, The Art of Suspense examines practical, easy-to-use narrative tools for creating suspense. The first part of the book covers narrative techniques such as reversal, dramatic irony, surprise, and preparation. The second part examines narrative patterns, using the analytical methodology of the Russian folklorist Vladimir Propp. Focusing on scenes where the protagonist comes into conflict with the antagonist, the author discusses eleven patterns that create suspense.
The patterns and techniques are amply illustrated with examples from film, television, and literature. Western examples include films of Alfred Hitchcock and Fritz Lang, novels of Agatha Christie and J.R.R. Tolkien, and episodes of Star Trek. Eastern examples include Chinese martial arts films, Korean period drama, and Japanese anime.
More a book of analysis than a prescriptive, how-to book, The Art of Suspense will benefit not just novelists and screenwriters, but also directors, editors, Beta readers, film commentators—anyone who is concerned with the craft of storytelling. The Art of Suspense will open your eyes to the narrative tools of storytelling, tools that have been hiding in plain sight in the stories that you read.
Crystallizing Public Opinion
Edward L. Bernays
Edward Bernays, famed as The Father of Public Relations, pioneered the technique of working to change attitudes rather than just selling products. In this 1923 classic, he describes how public opinion is created and shaped, including the use of surveys and endorsements from opinion leaders, celebrities, and experts. These methods formed the principles that corporations and governments have employed for the past century to influence social attitudes.
Propaganda
by Edward L. Bernays
Propaganda incorporates the literature from social science and psychological manipulation into an examination of the techniques of public communication. Bernays wrote the book in response to the success of some of his earlier works such as Crystallizing Public Opinion (1923) and A Public Relations Counsel (1927). Propaganda explored the psychology behind manipulating masses and the ability to use symbolic action and propaganda to influence politics, effect social change, and lobby for gender and racial equality. This work propelled Bernays into media historians’ view of him as the “father of public relations.”
