comment moved to the Summer Sale, as was intended...

I wish there was better curation as some of the "based" books I purchased were anything but.

Scruffy's avatar

I'm curious which, worth a discussion... (not on this page, to be clear, but somewhere TBD)

DM me and let me know which ones were objectionable. And keep in mind that Kindle books can be returned for a refund. I've been working on the honor system with authors, but it's becoming obvious some non-based authors have been trying to climb aboard. Thanks for your help.

How do I submit a book to your list? My novel, THE MAN WHO SAW SECONDS, has been named to a bunch of "best of 2024" lists and is currently on the shortlist for the 2025 SF Locus Award. It's definitely based--and I really appreciate you compiling a list like this!

The entire plot is a man fighting to protect his family from the government, with just a very slim superpower (the ability to see 5 seconds into the future) to balance the odds.

(Because I don’t use Kindle) Today I added 22 titles to my wishlist on Amazon. And it’s so few only because I ruthlessly controlled my scroll finger, and kept it working, even when my brain was frantically sending signals to STOP AND CHECK THAT OUT!!!! I will say that I saw some names often enough that they’ll be burned into my brain and I’ll probably wind up buying some even if they’re not on my wishlist! Thanks so much for this. And if I meet you at an event sometime and I’m weird, it’s probably because a) it’s my nature! and b) I’ve seen your name so many times and wanted to read all the things at once—I do get confused! I’ll be the old lady with the blurry eyes.

Debra Reynolds's avatar

Is this price all Kindle? I work on screen all day long, and prefer print (or audio) for relaxation. I’m still going to go through this selection and add books to my wishlist in print. Thanks!

Scruffy's avatar

Debra, have you tried the 'natural' (or eink) ebook readers? They look/feel like printed pages, without the 'screen reading' strain.

Debra Reynolds's avatar

I have not, yet. But then I have probably 500 books in my TBR pile, and as many on audio—and I just got my sixth manuscript to edit (I work for a publisher) so…I’ll keep it in mind, thanks!

Michael Finney's avatar

Yeah, KDP paperbacks have a minimum price for print on demand which is higher than the max price for this sale so it's essentially all ebooks

Debra Reynolds's avatar

I thought probably. It’s a great thing for all those who read Kindle. I wonder if there’s a way to get a list of titles to look for, down the road, other than just writing them down? Does this stack have that?

Michael Finney's avatar

This post is the list of all the books included in the Spring sale :) Just scan through it

Here's my listings if you're interested: https://www.amazon.com/Michael-Finney/e/B08BFJHHMZ

All of mine have audiobooks as well if you like those

Debra Reynolds's avatar

yeah, I was looking for just titles and authors. This is pretty bulky, but wait!! (old person alert) I COULD just bookmark it! And thanks for sharing yours. I’m always on the lookout, even though my husband is considering building a second house just for my TBR pile.

"The Rooster Rider" is still $9.99 at the link. Is this correct?

Is there a link with genres and titles for the book sale or do we just scroll? Sorry, my first time to the sale. Thank you.

Hans G. Schantz's avatar

Long story. Substack is supposed to have a feature where you can create "anchor links" to subject headings, but I could not get it to work, so everyone's just going to have to scroll.

Scruffy's avatar

It does work, Hans. On the left side of the page, in at least my Brave Browser, there is a series of 'dashs', which if you hover/click, opens a left sided menu of all of the titles (and some of the headers inside certain book details). It's quite a good way to look at the complete list.

I also use LinkKlipper and OpenMultpleUrls extensions to grab the entire set of links, and open them all in 'new tabs' (it can wait to load till you click on the tab, so it's not a memory hog), so I can figure out what I've already bought, what I'm not into, what to wishlist, etc etc... I just close each tab as I decide what to do. Given the volume of the sale, this has become my goto.

Murder on the Stellar Schooner doesn't seem to have a link, so here goes: https://amzn.to/3WXf4BK

Anyway, some reviews and free-stuff-listing to come shortly.

Fixed. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.

Would be nice to get in touch. I write on politics, so far on how elections are stolen, and about global power structures and argentinian politics.

Wrote a couple of books you already liked.
