The latest Based Book Sale may be over, but the ride never ends. In this update:
Sale results and top hundred titles.
A reminder to update offerings for the Everyday Book Sale page.
A reminder to tell us about your latest based book project in the comments, and I’ll repost them to the community.
Mark your calendars for the next Based Book Sale coming 12:00AM PST Wednesday February 12 through 12:00AM PST Wednesday February 19, 2024.
This is a targeted email for based authors, but based readers might be interested in following along, too, particularly to see if they may have missed some of the most popular offerings. The Based Book Sale is a free service for authors and readers alike (except for paying for the books). Sign up to be sure you catch every update.
Let’s begin with the Based Book Sale Wrap-Up.
The Wrap Up
The latest Based Book Sale completed with Amazon reporting a total of 230 Kindle Free E-books and 1851 Kindle Paid E-Books sold to based readers. That’s 2081 total! That doesn’t include sales authors made themselves or through channels outside Amazon, so the actual totals - judging by the reports authors have been sending me - are significantly higher. Here are the number for paid Kindle E-Books we tracked here at the Based Book Sale.
John C. Wright led the pack with his first Starquest book, Space Pirate of Andromeda, closely followed by sale newcomer, Devon Eriksen, whose Theft of Fire: Orbital Space #1 took second-place honors. Henry Brown secured third place by offering his entire six-book Paradox series in a box set for only $0.99. Another sale newcomer, D.W. Dixon, had a strong fourth place showing with The Buchanan Brothers and the Botanical Bandits (Steampunk Sleuths Book 1) (still available for $0.99!). Returning sale veteran S. Kirk Pierzchala was fifth with Echoes Through Distant Glass: Beyond Cascadia: One. Based Book Sale perennial offering, The Hidden Truth was sixth. Sale newcomers rounded out the top ten:
Shane Gries with Oasis: Last World Volume I.
Milton Lane with The City Beneath the Eye.
Mike Mollman with The Halley Traveler: The Children of Mars, Book One, and
Jean Marie Bauhaus with Desolation of the Damned: Desolation Book One.
The Everyday Book Sale
The Everyday Based Book Sale got a bit overshadowed by the higher-profile quarterly sale. This is the sale for authors who have books permanently priced at $0.99 or free. Do you have a book always priced at $0.99 or free? Then let the Based Book Sale help you always be marketing it. If you’d like to participate, please add a comment in the post below.
In a couple of weeks, I’ll update the Everyday Based Book Sale page and repost it for everyone to promote.
What’s New With You?
There are a lot of exciting projects the broader Based Book community is working on: book launches, crowd fund campaigns, and other projects.
Tell us all about them in the comments, and I’ll repost them!
Also, if you want to get on Substack or if you already are, please share a recommendation to the Based Book Sale Substack. Recommendations show up in the right sidebar of your homepage. I’ll do the same, and Substack selects a handful of them to display every time a visitor loads the page.
That’s it for now. I’ll append the rest of the top-hundred list, below. Looking forward to seeing you at the next Based Book Sale coming 12:00AM PST Wednesday February 12 through 12:00AM PST Wednesday February 19, 2024.
Until next time, keep writing and reading those based books!
