While I am interested, and would spend money, there is no clear link to follow to browse titles/authors which makes this SO INCREDIBLY FRUSTRATING! If Stuff Your Kindle days can manage clean, easy to access websites which generate traffic and make it EASY to share on social media, I would hope and pray the same would be true for based books. Highly disappointed!

Not sure what all you're saying here but each book title is linked. Not all authors have Amazon author pages or Substack accounts (I do so you can browse all my titles if you like).

Other suggestions for how to make it easier for you?

I just realized it's not at all obvious that the book titles are links. It could be that a little fiddling with the formatting would up sales, tracking data, or both.

Michael Finney's avatar

It's underlined like a link on any other website though? and when you mouse over that text on desktop a link icon appears

Suggestions?

Can you change the link color? I mean, book titles are often underlined too. I don’t know. I just remember seeing a question about this the other day and realized this might be a problem.

Turns out that links can be colored, will show Hans - Good suggestion

Something I've learned over the past few years: What is obvious to the designer is not always obvious to the intended audience. Don't assume they see what you see.

Perhaps also add a simple link at the end of the book description.

Michael Finney's avatar

Heading links can't have their color adjusted but can potentially do something else there as well as add a colored link into the details

Can images be made into links? If so, that might be the most obvious "clickable" element.

Thanks for all of the great books! Looks like The Singularity Job is still showing up as $4.99 when I follow the link to Amazon.

Thanks for the heads up. I rely on the authors to get their pricing set, and sometimes, something gets overlooked.

Hans- I ended up finding a book by you that was reduced to $.99 (The Hidden Truth) but didn't see it listed here. Looks like it would have fit here, so I bought it. :)

I got so busy, I forgot to include my own book! Thanks for buying it.

The price shows up as $.99 now- just mainly wanted to make sure you guys were aware in case someone skipped buying because of it. Thanks!!

(oops, I'd posted this to the Spirng Sale instead of this one as intended... fixed)

Tips for all authors to increase sales:

1) If you make the 2nd or later books 'on sale' but the first book is still full price, we're not likely to take the risk, coming in the middle of the story.

2) If you use Barnes and Noble (etc) and make the book 'free', but B&N requires you to create an account and add a payment method (credit card only) in order to get your 'free' books, we're not likely to give B&N that just for the sake of 'free books'. Same would be true of other vendors.

3) If your book is already on Kindle Unlimited, a 99 cent sale isn't much of a deal, and speaking just for myself, I'm more likely to pass it over in favor of the non-Unlimited books, since I tend to sub/unsub from Unlimited about once a year for a month or two, and read a pile then, but refuse to give Amazon a full subscription since they've destroyed the rest of the ebook universe in their global domination efforts. In other words, I'll eventually check out your books, but Unlimited books are always second choices. (Yes, the recent Kindle download lockdown definitely affected my views, it's time to move away from the Kindle monopoly...). But for Kindle Unlimited subscribers, it's the same problem: paying for a book you get 'for free' already seems a poor choice.

4) I absolutely look at the page count (ie size of the book), and it factors into my choices of what's worthwhile.

Tip for buyers: When I was ordering much more from Amazon than now, I took advantage of the 'slower shipping' option, where they reward you with e-credits good for use with Kindle purchases. The timing of the BB sales didn't always quite work out with Amazon's scheduling expiring of those credits, but when it did, it was an easy way to store of $20-30 worth of credits and splurge on the many fine books on sale. I've cut back on that, like many others.

I wanted to use my reviews of some I bought last time to help promote this. (I bought four, read three so far.) But the three I read and reviewed are not included in the sale this time. Ah well.

That’s a good idea, there are a few in the sale that I’ve read and reviewed!!

Apologies, Hans - I tried discounting "One October Night" to $0.99; but Amazon will only let me take it down to $1.99.

Folks, if you buy OON for $1.99 this week - message me and I'll email you an ebook of "Dad Tweets Me Right", my book of Dad jokes, as a consolation prize.

You may need to adjust the royalty rate to open up the 99¢ option
