Re: The Switchboard (Connections Book 1) by Christina Glover: Although promoted in the Black Friday Based Book Sale, this title's centerpiece is an LGBT romance.
This is not at all what I'd consider a based book, and if this had been disclosed in any of the reviews, or the Amazon book description, I would not have purchased it. It seems dishonest for the author to have requested inclusion of this title in the Based Book Sale.
On the author's Insta at https://www.instagram.com/wontwriteitself/, an image of the primary characters with pride flags and the caption "A Pride introduction to my leading lads 🏳️🌈 Say hello to bi- ‘I liked girls until this one guy crashed my life’ Henley and demi- ‘what’s this fuzzy feeling?’ Kittinger 💖 #indieauthor #indieauthorsofig #queerbooks". On the IG profile, the author links to a review of the book at https://www.liesandbees.com/books: ""A casually queer, delightfully quirky, and wonderfully creative low-fantasy romp perfect for fans of T. Kingfisher and Good Omens (the show)." and a book description: "THE SWITCHBOARD is an adult contemporary/urban fantasy featuring a multi-book slow burn LGBTQ+ (M/M) relationship."
Sorry about that - I glanced at the Amazon listing and did not see anything untoward. I rely on the author's judgment to self-identify as based. Amazon does have a limited return window, if it’s not too late? And you could leave a review. Again, I regret that slipped through.
"Bypass the cultural gatekeeping, support non-woke authors, and get yourself some great based books from both established and emerging talent for only $0.99 – many titles free – but only for one week! The sale starts today, and it runs through Tuesday December 3."
Excellent, my friend. I wish my 3 self-pubbed non-Woke books were on your list! We should collaborate.
I did appreciate the inclusion of some KU books. It will give me an opportunity to find authors I like at no cost (although, to be fair, $0.99 isn't a huge risk!)
The free stuff isn't consistently formatted (*FREE* vs * FREE *), and I tend to download and read everything that's free (I also plan on trying to review a bunch of the free or KU stuff I can read that lacks reviews). My free-stuff list is:
* Ireland 1845-1850: The Perfect Holocaust and Who Kept It “Perfect” *FREE* (free online, download requires account)
* American Stasi: The Domestic Surveillance Targeting You and Your Children (*FREE*) (downloadable pdf)
* On Basilisk Station (Honor Harrington Book 1) (*FREE*) (Amazon, a popular book with 11,000 reviews already)
* Citadel of Seven Swords (Skarde: The Wandering Sword Book 1) (* FREE *) (Amazon)
* Weird of the Skull Totem (Skarde: The Wandering Sword Book 2) (* FREE *)
I should also note that my book, God Emperor Trump, is free today, Saturday, and Monday. Sadly KDP only gives us 5 free days to work with.
Anything else free I missed? Also, anyone with zero Amazon reviews who wants one? I plan to do as many zero-review reviews from this sale as I can this weekend. (And of course if you can review my stuff, that would also rock!)
Hans - thanks so much for putting this together. It's already resulted in sales.
Thank you thank you, but I repeat myself.
I'm awful at marketing but taking a page from you, "what kind of a writer doesn't ask for reviews?" - so whoever thinks there's something worthwhile in the books, please put a review.
Amazon values your opinions more than your spouse or kids do. How can you pass up an offer like that?
What was really appalling back when I was first reading, I begged a bunch of my friends to read and review my book, and they did, and then Amazon figured out we were Facebook friends and deleted all the reviews.
Well, they had a policy about that. I suppose I should have said, "Amazon values your opinions more than your spouse or kids - as long as they don't know it's your spouse or kids."
As if trade publishing isn't a buddy system.
Certain writers (Hemingway, cough cough) were famous for cranking out blurbs. They all do it for each other. I doubt they even read the books.
I'm probably way too late for this, but my teen fantasy adventure trilogy Dark Circles is on promotion Nov. 29-Dec. 3. Book 1 is free and books 2 and 3 will be 99 cents. If it's inappropriate for me to post this, please delete!

If there's any new folks up above with less than 25 reviews on their *first story*, please hit me up. I know that's the hardest part.
I bought a book. Thank you for putting this list together!
You're welcome.

Thank you for including my two submissions to the sale, need to have a look through everything that was included

That's terrible.
